Has The Blacklist Renewed for Season 9?
Just after the third episode of The Blacklist Season 8 aired, NBC confirmed that The Blacklist had been renewed for season 9. This happened back in January 2021, just after the show came back after a month-long break. The show has become one of the most successful scripted series of the network, and therefore it was only sooner or later till the news of the renewal was announced. Luckily for us, this came sooner.

Considering the previous seasons of The Blacklist, they usually premiere in September or October, finishing somewhere in May. Now, the eighth season started premiering in November due to COVID-19 delays along with the fewer number of episodes. What is the Possible Plot for The Blacklist Season 9?
If you all remember, Red Reddington killed Liz’s mom, Katarina Rostova. Liz was in front of him as she pleaded to him, asking him to spare her mother. Nevertheless, Red crossed the line as he killed Katarina. In his defense, he felt that he had no choice. This moment is the driving force of The Blacklist Season 8 as Liz plans on killing Red. Back in episode three of the season, Liz attempted to kill Red in an explosion. But her plan failed as Red did survive the explosion, becoming aware of Liz’s plan to murder him. But now that Red is having some impending health issues, it will be a surprise to see how he will deal with her former teammate as she tops his titular list of criminals.
According to the Executive Producer, Liz has been in the series for seven years, and surprisingly, the character she is closest to is Ressler. Considering how she has been falling deeper into the depths of crime, the relationship between the two is about to be drastically complicated. At the end of The Blacklist Season 8 Episode 14, we see that Liz came close to taking her revenge. Nevertheless, while she has Red on her gunpoint, she pushes Anne away. Anne hits her head on the wall to start bleeding. Red runs to her as he calls 9-1-1. At the moment, we can see how Liz comes to a realization that the person she hates and the person before him are different.
Who will be in the Cast of The Blacklist Season 9?
Considering that The Blacklist Season 8 is still going on, it is difficult to assume which of the characters will survive till the season finale. Nevertheless, the primary ensemble of the cast is certain to return. James Spade being the face of the show, will reprise his role as Red Reddington. He was a killer who has now become a master criminal profiler for the FBI. His health has been in question, even so having a season without him just wouldn’t sit right. Megan Boone will certainly reprise her roles as FBI profiler Elizabeth’Liz’ Keen. She wants revenge against Red for killing her mother.
